December 6 marks the death anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar
Today as we remember Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, we remember what he devoted his life to – a society in which there was not room for caste and discrimination and that was founded on his most precious values of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. These were at the heart of the Constitution, but most effectively developed through Buddhist practice. Our Nagarjuna Institute (at Nagaloka, Nagpur) alumni are actively working to promote Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of Prabuddha Bharat, through cultivating freedom of mind and working to establish equality, both of these on the basis of fraternity, or as Dr. Ambedkar preferred to say, metta. They are doing this in over 20 States of India, and show the empowerment that Buddhist practice can engender.
