What information do we collect?

Personal information is any information that can be used to identify a living individual such as a name, date of birth, email address, postal address, and telephone number.

Any personal information that you provide us with is stored securely. We may collect this personal information when you contact us, give feedback through our comments boxes, submit a personal story, make a donation, register for our services (for example, to receive our newsletter), or otherwise give us personal information.

When making a donation, your financial information such as credit and debit card details, is stored by Instamojo only and Nagaloka does not have access to this information.

  • Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your e-mail address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

  • Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Signing-up for our newsletters service

When you sign-up to receive newsletters from us, you are asked to provide your name and email address. This personal data is shared with a third-party company based outside the EU called MailChimp, whose system we use to send email newsletters to our subscribers. Any data you provide is stored on secure servers by MailChimp.

MailChimp is compliant with the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework, which means they comply with data protection requirements. For the purposes of GDPR, Nagaloka is deemed the ‘Data Controller’ and MailChimp the ‘Data Processor’. You can find out more about how MailChimp manages data.

 Signing-up for our SMS service

When you sign-up to receive SMS from us, you are asked to provide your name and mobile number. This personal data is shared with a third-party company based in India called BulkSMS, whose system we use to send bulk transactional SMS to our subscribers. Any data you provide is stored on secure servers by BulkSMS.

 Accessing your data

We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up-to-date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you at any time.
