At the center of Nagaloka is a 36 foot image of the Buddha which was inaugurated in 2009. The image was created by a famous sculptor from Taiwan, Hon. Wen Khwey.
The Buddha is shown walking in the world with his hand raised in Abhaya Mudra, removing worst fears of humanity and assuring them confidence. His eyes are open and he is looking compassionately at the world. The Walking Buddha image has special meaning for Indian Buddhists, since this was Dr. Ambedkar’s favorite representation of the Buddha as someone who was actively engaged in the reform of both individuals and society.
